playgrounds

The Acadia community is a vibrant and active community with members of all ages and abilities. Several playground structures within the community are outdated and not meeting the needs of our community children for play. Our wish is to create a meeting place for local residents to congregate, socialize and play with the added benefit of attracting people from all over the region.

The Playgrounds Committee is a committee of the Acadia Community Association comprised of a group of volunteers, which include parents and community members.  The committee's mandate is to bring together the resources needed to develop and build new playgrounds and revitalize greenspaces located in the boundaries of the community of Acadia.

This section of the website has been designed to tell you about our on-going plans and initiatives in this regard and to garner community support and fundraising for these important projects. Thanks for visiting!

Acadia’s Playgrounds

Acadia has seven community-based playground structures located within its boundaries.

The Addison Place Playground (ACA198) was replaced recently in 2021 by the Acadia Community Association with support from Parks Foundation Calgary and the City of Calgary.

Aside from this playground, the remaining six are in fair condition and are approaching or have already exceeded their end of life.

The Playgrounds Committee has identified the next playground replacement project to be the Allandale Close Playground (ACA193) located beside the new Cardel Homes development and are aiming for replacement by the end of 2026.

  • One of the oldest playgrounds in the neighbourhood. The Acadia Community Association has identified this playground as the next one to be replaced and updated! We’re currently seeking members to join our playgrounds committee to make this project a reality.

  • The Addison Place Playground is a beautiful playground that includes seating areas, a chess board and a ping pong table. This project was made possible with the help from Parks Foundation and the City of Calgary and set the bar for our next playground projects!

  • This beloved playground is a gem that’s tucked away behind surrounding homes. The neighbours lovingly watch over this playground ensuring it’s a fun and safe place for users.

  • Named Dinosaur Park for it’s triceratops climbing structure!
