Lifetime Membership nominations were made for the following individuals:
Keith Simmons
Keith’s involvement with the Acadia Community Association began in 2005, when his child wrote a letter to the mayor about traffic safety. That small act of civic engagement inspired nearly two decades of Keith’s own dedication to building a safer, stronger community.
Keith has served in multiple executive roles, including several terms as President, leading with vision, collaboration, and integrity. Even when he briefly stepped away to run for Ward 11 Councillor, his passion for serving the people of Acadia remained at the heart of everything he did.
Keith’s steady leadership and unwavering commitment have helped shape the Association we are today.
Marvin Olson
Marvin’s involvement dates back more than forty years - at least to the very building of the Acadia Recreation Complex in 1981. As a charter member, he helped raise the funds to construct the ARC, going around the neighbourhood knocking door to door. Marvin remortgaged his own home to fund a casino fundraiser, back when non-profits were required to supply the float to operate a casino. This is such an admirable level of dedication and commitment to this community that Marv loves.
Marv’s sons grew up playing on Acadia’s community hockey teams, and to this day, Marv continues to volunteer at every single event we host.
His generosity, commitment, and love for this community have been a constant through the decades.
Membership voted to grant both Keith Simmons and Marvin Olson Lifetime Membership to the Acadia Community Association. ACA Lifetime Membership plaques were presented to both.
Calgary-Acadia MLA Diana Batten made a presentation of scrolls to Keith Simmons and Marvin Olson to acknowledge their longstanding dedication as volunteers to their community.
The official part of the meeting concluded at 8:25pm.
Meeting attendees were invited to stay for a networking reception.
