Sports Ramps Engagement
November 10, 2015 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Should skateboard or sports ramps (bicycle, in-line skates, roller skates, etc.) be allowed on residential properties? Currently, sports ramps are allowed in parks and on residential property with an approved development permit.
In June 2015, Council directed staff to engage with Calgarians on sports ramps on residential property. A team is now looking at:
- whether a proposed maximum size of 1.5 meters high by 5 meters wide by 6 meters long is appropriate,
- a development permit exemption for sports ramps within the allowable size, and
- confirmation that proposed amendments to the Community Standards Bylaw, as part of its comprehensive review, will address excessive noise related to sport ramp activities
Based on engagement, amendments will be proposed for the Land Use Bylaw and Community Standards Bylaw, in order to address excessive and intermittent noise related to sport ramp activities. The sport ramp notice of motion is available to review.
As part of our consultation, we invite you to complete a survey (available October 19). Starting in November 2015, The City will consult with stakeholder groups and the general public.
